Julie is a singer songwriter with roots in the acoustic folk tradition. In March 2004 she recorded her first album “BLUEBELLS RISING”, which received good reviews in the music press. An experienced performer, Julie studied voice and violin at the Royal Northern College of music and was the lead singer for the band at the National Baptist Assembly in the International Arena in Cardiff in 2004,as well as taking part in the Baptist World Alliance congress in July 2005 at the National Indoor Arena. She gained national recognition in November 2004 when she was nominated for the B.B.C. sponsored “Gospel Entertainment Music Awards” in two categories: Best Female Artist and Best Single for “Even an Angel”. She has recently appeared on BBC Southern counties radio and Crossrhythms radio stations. With a voice described as “Captivating”, her songs, co-written with lyricist and poet Robert Eggleston have strong themes; the struggles and joys of life and faith, set to memorable melodies. On stage Julie accompanies herself on guitar and keyboard & usually includes some fiddle playing. At other times she is supported by her band comprising of guitar, mandolin, and flutes/tin whistles. She is able to provide a set of up to an hour and a half, or the ministry for services, outreach events or retreat days. Julie is prepared travel to venues, and does not charge a specific fee, asking simply for travel expenses and the opportunity to make her CD available for sale.
